Does Curby's Lawn & Garden install low voltage outdoor lighting systems?

Yes, we install customized low voltage outdoor lighting systems using LED fixtures. Popular lighting options include path lighting, down and up lighting and customized outdoor scenes for entertaining around your patio space.

Do you install irrigation services?

Yes, we offer irrigation installation and maintenance services for systems we installed. Our system installations are geared towards water conversation and efficient watering. Our yearly service program includes start up and shut down at the appropriate time to prevent seasonal damage to your system. On occasion we can assist with repairs and adjustments to a system we did not install. Please call the office to discuss the issue and talk with a knowledgeable Curby's Lawn & Garden representative.

What type of maintenance does an irrigation system require?

Proper maintenance of your irrigation system can reduce water waste and improve plant life. Maintenance is fairly simple, requiring you to check the system at least two times seasonally. Once when the system is turned on for the year, and again halfway through the season. Regular maintenance should include inspecting the controller, updating any times or dates, checking all wire connections, replacing backup battery and turning on each zone to check for damages.

Will an automatic sprinkler system use more water than I am currently using?

No, an automatic sprinkler system may actually save you water. A well designed, efficient system applies exactly the amount of water needed to maintain your landscape. A rain sensor can be installed with your irrigation system that will prevent the system from running when your area receives a quarter of an inch of rain, or more.

What should I do when I have a leak in my irrigation system?

If the leak is constant (leaking when the system is not in actual operation) the system should be shut off at the point of connection, which is normally at the backflow outside of your home. If the leak is not constant (only when the system is running) turn the time off on the particular zone. If any type of leak is found, call Curby's Lawn & Garden to schedule a repair with an irrigation technician.

When is the best time to begin my landscape project?

Our landscape designers are hard at work throughout the year and are available for consultations even in the Kansas City winters. There's certainly no wrong time to begin the design process, though please keep in mind that as one of Kansas City's premiere landscaping companies, things can get quite busy, especially during the spring and early summer months. For that reason, we encourage you to begin the design process as early as possible.

Our landscaping season typically begins in mid-April and concludes in December. As you can appreciate, Mother Nature is difficult to predict, but our philosophy is to be on-site when the ground is workable.

How long will it take to create a design for my property?

There are many factors that can impact the design timeline including property size, project scope and plant preferences. That said, we find that our designs usually require two to four weeks from start to finish, with review cycles and scope changes being the largest variable.

Do you perform design installations if I already have a plan?

Yes, we can perform the landscape installation from existing design plans. However, we would want to review the plans to ensure they are done properly, and that the selected plants will thrive in the areas they are placed.

Do you provide design-only services?

Curby's Lawn & Garden does not separate our design services as an individual offering. Instead, we commit our teams to providing unparalleled attention throughout the entire project, from concept to completion.
